About the Role

The Recreation Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of exceptional care and services to our residents at Wing Kei. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of wellness and engagement, while ensuring the highest standards of care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recreation programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents, promoting socialization, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and address the recreational needs of our residents, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
  • Provide support and assistance to residents with daily living activities, such as personal care, grooming, and mobility.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special events and activities, such as outings, parties, and cultural celebrations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and organizations to enhance our recreation programs and services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in recreation therapy and support.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and compassion.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Therapy Assistant Program, Diploma in Social Services, or Recreation, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in an Adult Day Program or similar setting is an asset.
  • Certification as a Recreation Therapy Aide or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and resident-centered care.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including lifting, bending, and transferring residents.
