Overview

As a key member of Telesat, you will play a crucial role in establishing the control framework for a cutting-edge satellite constellation. This position involves leveraging advanced software technologies to create containerized applications that facilitate satellite operations. You will engage in the development of a high-assurance containerized satellite control system, collaborating with a dynamic operational team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and sustain software that supports operational systems, including tools for spacecraft data management, monitoring, and automation.
  • Oversee the satellite operations systems essential for Telesat's innovative LEO constellation.
  • Ensure compliance with system requirements across various operational elements, including real-time command processing and data analytics.
  • Support satellite operations teams in utilizing control systems effectively.
  • Contribute to the procurement and testing phases of satellite operations systems, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate that systems meet operational demands for the Lightspeed constellation.
  • Formulate and refine operational processes and procedures.
  • Develop mission operations protocols for various satellite phases and conduct necessary training.
  • Implement automation strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain the operational systems for the existing GEO satellite fleet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or Mathematics.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in operational systems.
  • Proficiency in modern operating systems and programming languages.
  • Experience with on-premises clusters and containerized environments.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
  • Willingness to provide support outside of regular hours as needed.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Self-driven with the ability to make informed recommendations on system design.
  • Evaluate operational solutions and provide technical assessments.
  • Support operational strategies and manage critical responses as necessary.
  • This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and meet security clearance requirements.
