Overview:
The Payroll Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Financial Services, plays a crucial role within a multidisciplinary team. This position is accountable for overseeing all elements of payroll processing and ensuring compliance with both internal and external reporting standards. The Payroll Manager is instrumental in developing and refining payroll practices, maintaining accurate master pay records for diverse employee categories, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate pay distribution.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable legal regulations and collective agreements.
- Provide guidance and support to staff regarding payroll-related inquiries.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Mandatory Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance is preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years of progressive management experience in Payroll within a unionized healthcare environment is required.
Professional Experience:
- Proficient understanding of integrated HRIS systems.
- Familiarity with Quadrant software is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of legal requirements pertinent to hospital operations, including regulations from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and CRA.
Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll theories, concepts, and practices with the ability to apply them in complex situations.
- Strong analytical skills to identify trends, resolve issues, and propose data-driven solutions.
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and achieve objectives.
- Demonstrated leadership and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and processes.
- Commitment to ethical practices, including integrity, respect, accountability, and innovation.
- Compliance with COVID-19 immunization requirements as per organizational policy.
Compensation: $100,000–$110,000 annually
