The Production Underwriter for Commercial Property & Casualty is tasked with building and nurturing relationships, driving revenue growth, and effectively placing profitable accounts within the Alberta market. Leveraging specialized knowledge and industry insights, the Production Underwriter will facilitate strategic client expansion, propose and execute profitable initiatives, and cultivate robust partnerships with brokers. A proven track record in strategic planning, proactive engagement, and sales acumen is essential.
Core Duties:
Sales: Strategic Growth and Product Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with key brokers, ensuring alignment with the organization's risk appetite. Expand broker networks by engaging in networking activities to uncover new clients and compile lists of targeted brokers. Conduct marketing outreach to strengthen broker relationships and promote the offerings of B&W. Sustain existing broker partnerships to secure renewals and generate new business prospects. Formulate marketing strategies to enhance competitiveness against other firms. Leverage referrals from other Burns & Wilcox offices to facilitate business placements. Ensure that all agents and brokers receive prompt and courteous service. Collaborate with fellow Underwriters to take ownership of a portfolio of regional business.Underwriting: Risk Assessment and Business Placement
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting guidelines and brokerage markets. Gather sufficient underwriting information for quoting, binding, and issuing policies. Review coverage requirements, pricing, and terms. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions effectively. Submit high-quality submissions to various markets. Provide guidance to brokers regarding discrepancies between quotes and coverage options. Promptly assess inspections to confirm the quality of risks. Ensure meticulous documentation of all files to mitigate potential errors and omissions. Foster strong relationships with carriers. Stay informed about underwriting practices and maintain necessary licenses and certifications.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience. CIP designation or equivalent industry experience. Provincial License or eligibility to obtain one. Active participation in the industry. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Insurance. Strong underwriting expertise is highly preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of both domestic and international Commercial markets.About H.W. Kaufman Group
