Company: Multimatic Inc.
Overview: Multimatic Inc. is on the lookout for a dedicated Quality Engineer to enhance our manufacturing processes and uphold our commitment to achieving zero defects. This role will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be pivotal in the implementation, communication, and auditing of quality systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with suppliers to address quality challenges and elevate overall supplier performance through development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in drawing review meetings to assess the accuracy and feasibility of meeting customer specifications as an active member of the Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) team.
- Engage in ongoing program review meetings to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
- Attend Engineering Change Notice (ECN) meetings and update necessary documentation to comply with project timelines.
- Analyze Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) reports for dimensional accuracy and conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies in preparation for customer submissions.
- Contribute to gauge design and approval processes, ensuring quality standards meet customer expectations.
- Coordinate unique studies in response to customer complaints and internal quality issues, collaborating with various departments to maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Act as the primary contact for supplier-related issues, coordinating containment activities to prevent defects from reaching customers.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure the implementation and verification of corrective actions.
- Compile data related to quality issues, including costs and corrective actions, and present findings for closure.
- Conduct supplier audits and follow up on identified corrective actions.
- Prepare and distribute monthly supplier performance reports.
- Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers regarding quality matters.
- Support the documentation and activities related to customer submissions.
- Ensure all products meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Review and manage supplier submissions, granting approvals as necessary.
- Assist in the development of Control Plans and obtain customer approvals.
- Collaborate on the creation of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and work instructions.
- Lead investigations into production-related quality issues, engaging suppliers as needed.
- Generate reports for customers and provide updates on quality issues.
- Participate in non-conformance activities and follow up on corrective actions.
- Conduct layered audits and address any non-conformances.
- Have the authority to manage non-conforming products and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support warranty reviews to exceed customer expectations.
- Participate in training sessions for new programs with operators.
- Assist in product testing and the development of quality assurance tools.
- Maintain visual standards within the plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- A University Degree or College Diploma in a relevant field or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to engage with employees at all levels in a diverse environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and IATF16949 quality standards is beneficial.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with PCDMIS CMM software is preferred.
- Familiarity with ZEISS Inspect or PolyWorks MS software is a plus.
