POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bar Support Staff plays a crucial role in assisting Bartenders by ensuring the bar is well-stocked, organized, and ready to provide exceptional service to guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Replenishing liquor supplies based on daily inventory requests.
  • Assisting with preparation tasks for daily operations (e.g., slicing fruit, making syrups).
  • Stocking essential items such as straws, disposable cups, napkins, ice, and cleaning materials.
  • Collaborating with the bar team to ensure the bar area is fully prepared for service.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area throughout service.
  • Addressing emergencies at the bar, including broken glass, clogged drains, and spills.
  • Disposing of trash and recyclables in and around the bar area.
  • Helping to keep fan areas tidy.
  • Performing general cleaning tasks as directed by supervisors to meet health standards.
  • Completing closing tasks, including proper storage of goods and restocking for the next service.
  • Assisting with additional tasks as needed and requested.
  • Mopping the bar floor as necessary.
  • Aiding in opening and closing inventory counts.
  • Responding to guest inquiries and concerns with the support of fellow staff.
  • Working collaboratively with team members and assisting others when needed.
  • Providing a welcoming atmosphere by smiling and making eye contact with guests.
  • Organizing the removal of garbage, cardboard, and empty containers efficiently.
  • Undertaking any other duties assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty at a high level. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Completion of Grade 12 education and at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Proficient working knowledge of English (both written and verbal).
  • Smart Serve Certification is required.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktails is essential.
  • Must possess emotional maturity, respectfulness, and sincerity.
  • Well-groomed and courteous demeanor is expected.
  • Strong attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed under pressure.
  • Understanding of all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Enjoyment in engaging with people.
  • Experience in guest service is preferred.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires on-site presence. The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While executing job duties, employees are regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; use hands to handle controls. Employees frequently reach with hands and arms, and are required to stand, walk, and stoop. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
