The Construction Site Supervisor (quarrying and paving) is accountable for the safety, oversight, performance, and growth of the site's operational, manufacturing, and maintenance teams. This role also involves maintaining available reserves and enhancing plant efficiency. The Site Supervisor collaborates with functional teams (Environment, Land, Industrial Performance, Human Resources, and Safety) to ensure operational excellence, aiming for maximum productivity at minimal production costs in a unionized environment. Additionally, the Site Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring Holcim is recognized as a respected member of the industry and local communities.
Responsibilities
Safety:
Familiarize with and oversee the implementation and enforcement of Health & Safety policies and procedures. Ensure employee safety and confirm that all contracts and projects on the site comply with safety policy requirements.Production Management:
Guarantee that aggregate production aligns with sales requirements. Develop, implement, and monitor production, maintenance, stockpiling, and distribution strategies to meet targeted key performance indicators (KPIs). Oversee and manage local and national contracts to fulfill expectations. Collaborate with the team and the Eastern Canada industrial performance and local projects teams to assess capital needs and requests.Financial Management:
Plan, drive, and monitor financial performance using local or regional tools. Contribute to the preparation and adherence to the site's annual budget. Promote financial analysis to identify cost-reduction opportunities. Forecast profitability and output to optimize returns; balance inventory and sales to manage and minimize impacts on working capital.Inventory Management and Distribution:
Assist with monthly inventory reconciliation and support Distribution in balancing area inventories with demand.Sustainable Mining:
Ensure compliance with the terms of the Authorization Certificate. Aid the mine planning team in developing and executing the mine plan, including planning and monitoring subcontracted drilling and blasting operations. Manage the multi-year mining plan by integrating production and rehabilitation phases to ensure reserve optimization while considering community impact.Customer Focus:
Support Sales, Distribution, and Supply Chain in maintaining adequate site inventory levels to meet demand. Schedule and plan production to maximize available shipping inventory and minimize Truck Turnaround Time (TTT), while collaborating with the local Quality team to optimize product offerings.Coordination of Customer Service & Logistics Personnel:
Supervise and coordinate Dispatch and Weighmasters directly or indirectly.Sustainability: Ensure the site meets or exceeds all Holcim and regulatory guidelines for snow disposal and recycled products (rubble reception vs. recycled production).
Environment Management:
Ensure compliance with all Holcim and regulatory guidelines. Collaborate with the Central Environmental Department to develop, implement, and manage operational standards to oversee activities and mitigate environmental impact.Community Relations:
Cultivate and maintain effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities, events, and committees through partnerships with local stakeholders. Act as the site representative with local stakeholders, including community members, neighbors, and representatives of local/provincial authorities.Human Resources:
Work with the HR team to effectively manage site employee relations and the application of the collective agreement.Qualification Profile
Education & Work Experience
Undergraduate degree in business or engineering, or equivalent Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, not necessarily in the aggregate or construction industryKnowledge & Skills
