Educational Program Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage a learning atmosphere that acknowledges and integrates diverse Indigenous viewpoints, ensuring the curriculum mirrors the local Indigenous culture.
  • Develop and apply strategies to enhance equity and inclusion within the educational environment, addressing inequalities and nurturing a sense of belonging for every student.
  • Act as a liaison between the educational institution and the community, gathering insights, fostering collaboration, and seeking feedback to continuously enhance educational programs.
  • Design and incorporate land-based learning experiences into the curriculum, promoting a profound connection to the land and traditional practices.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education
Eligibility for a teaching certificate in the Northwest Territories
Consideration will be given to candidates with:
- A solid understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions
- Experience in applying inquiry-based instructional methods
- Background in curriculum development with an emphasis on competency-based education
- Familiarity with competency-based assessment and evaluation
- A demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Knowledge of inclusive educational practices in the Northwest Territories
- Understanding of land-based educational principles and methodologies
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
