About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs for mechanical systems and equipment, working closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed designs for mechanical systems and equipment, including 2D and 3D CAD models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design requirements are met and projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring that design standards and best practices are followed.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on design improvements and innovations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying new knowledge and skills to improve design processes and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the nuclear industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including GD&T and manufacturability.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PDM (Product Data Management) for CAD file management.
  • Knowledge of Ontario CANDU or other industry ECC (Engineering Change Control) processes.
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
