The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre stands as a beacon of advanced healthcare, housing one of Ontario's most extensive Regional Cancer Programs. Our facility provides a multitude of patient care services, including emergency care, surgical oncology, and specialized rehabilitation, serving a vast community.
Ward E2 specializes in Inpatient Orthopedic Surgery, focusing primarily on lower extremity Total Joint Replacement, with a dedicated team caring for a significant number of patients each year.
Position Overview
As an integral member of the E2 Inpatient Orthopedic Surgical unit, the Orthopedic Surgical Nurse (OSN) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nursing care. The OSN is responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and communicating any changes in patient conditions. Collaboration with the Registered Nurse is essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Work Schedule
Shifts will include rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Valid Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Current certifications or relevant Community College coursework in areas such as asepsis, wound management, and patient assessment
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or equivalent
- Recent experience in an acute medical or surgical environment within the last two years
- Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with unpredictable patient outcomes
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize patient care needs
- Knowledge of Transfer/Lifts for Caregivers (TLC) protocols
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
