We are seeking a skilled Registered Midwife to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a midwife, you will provide safe, flexible primary care to women and their babies during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
As a primary care provider, you will be responsible for clinical decisions and the management of care within your scope of practice. You will work in a variety of settings, including clients' homes, community clinics, and hospitals, in accordance with the Midwifery Model of Practice and the Standards of the Midwifery Regulatory Council of Nova Scotia.
You will provide care to women and newborns until approximately six weeks postpartum and facilitate continuity of access to care beyond the childbearing year, when necessary, through communication with other care providers or services.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree from a Canadian university midwifery education program or equivalent qualifications, an active practicing license or eligibility for active practice license from the Midwifery Regulatory Council of Nova Scotia, and current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) with intubation, Emergency Skills in Obstetrics, and "Opioids and Benzodiazepines: Safe Prescribing for Midwives".
The successful candidate will have experience working with multicultural and vulnerable populations, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact positively with clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy, and warmth.
We offer a competitive salary range of $42.94 - $57.05 hourly and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
