The role of the Business Analyst is pivotal in enhancing organizational effectiveness through the analysis of business systems, processes, and programs. This position is essential for driving improvements in information technology (IT) and infrastructure, as well as in financial and human resources, thereby influencing various departments and stakeholders.
The Business Analyst is tasked with aiding business users in comprehending their operational workflows and addressing challenges through the application of technology, processes, and organizational structure. This role is critical in supporting informed decision-making at the strategic level.
Key Responsibilities- Implement a comprehensive business analysis framework to ensure project success.
- Document current and future state business processes and workflows, including use cases.
- Conduct thorough analysis of information, problems, and procedures.
- Elicit, document, and manage both functional and non-functional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Translate business requirements into actionable business rules and identify potential solutions.
- Ensure solutions align with requirements and assess the benefits and costs associated with each option.
- Identify risks and assumptions related to solutions and contribute to effective risk management.
- Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure requirements are accurately translated into solutions.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Research and recommend innovative approaches and technological solutions for data integration services.
- Create comprehensive documentation including feasibility studies, business cases, and user manuals.
- Develop and manage a robust testing plan to validate that end products meet business needs.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure business requirements are effectively met.
- Provide quality assurance regarding the accuracy and integrity of solutions.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to various audiences.
- Conduct organizational readiness activities to prepare the business for change.
- Develop and facilitate training for both technical and non-technical personnel.
- A minimum of a University Degree or equivalent College diploma with relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in eliciting, developing, and managing business requirements and process models.
- Experience in the public sector or similar environments is preferred.
- Certification as a Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) is required.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and gather requirements effectively.
- Strong technical background with the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience in preparing project documentation, including testing plans and user stories.
- Proven analytical skills in addressing complex problems and situations.
- Experience working with large, integrated project teams and achieving stakeholder consensus.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Change Management Certification (e.g., Prosci) is advantageous.
