Senior Estimator Job Description

We're a leading construction company, PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc., committed to building better communities. As a Senior Estimator, you'll play a crucial role in our team's success by providing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contract Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of contract documents, including isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, to determine project requirements and identify potential risks.
  2. Schedule Development: Establish a critical path schedule with milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates for large projects.
  3. Pricing and Estimating: Lead the pricing of general expenses and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects, including lump sum and construction management.
  4. Documentation and Organization: Document all estimate information and archive it for easy transfer to the project team upon successful award.
  5. Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Conduct a risk and opportunity analysis for review by the chief estimator to add to the risk register.
  6. Client Liaison: Liaise with external consultants and project management organizations to estimate project budget requirements and coordinate the tender development process on behalf of clients.
  7. Project Success Criteria: Monitor client project-specific success criteria and hold the team accountable for meeting these criteria.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
  2. Construction Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines.
  3. Estimating Expertise: Expertise in understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models and identifying contract risks and opportunities.
  4. Bid Process Knowledge: Understanding of different bid processes and contract delivery type methods, including hard bid/lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and construction management/cost reimbursable.
