Your Impact
The Global Security and Safety Team is dedicated to securing OpenText employees, products, property, and information. Based in Waterloo, Ontario, the Security Specialist will assist in developing and implementing our Security Technology and Infrastructure program, including complex system integrations and analyzing security systems to ensure the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with security systems installation projects, from consultation to implementation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement security hardware and software solutions.
- Identify and execute ways to improve the security technology program and overall security integrity.
- Support auditing of security systems, identifying and prioritizing issues, and articulating risks and solutions.
- Develop and report on metrics related to issue remediation, system uptime, performance, and lifecycle management.
- Maintain awareness of global offices to ensure evolving threats are addressed by physical security programs.
- Develop and implement global best practices for lifecycle management and system health monitoring to ensure business continuity.
Requirements
- Demonstrated competency in assisting with high-value security systems implementation and migration projects.
- Strong understanding of security systems and technology from architecture to implementation.
- Strategic approach to planning work and understanding its impact on other security pillars and the organizational strategy.
- Vendor management, contract management, and developing/monitoring against vendor KPI and SLAs.
- Understanding of lifecycle management, health monitoring, and implementing/assessing system monitoring tools.
- Ability to assess systems and remediation plans and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Experience with physical access control systems, intrusion detection, and video management systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain security-related processes, procedures, and program training.
- Agility, analytical mind, and ability to link concepts and make connections across programs.
- Understanding of systems and processes used by a GSOC to effectively monitor a global portfolio.
- Positive attitude, willingness to partner with stakeholders, and flexibility to take on other responsibilities.
- Sound critical thinking, ability to analyze and solve complex problems, and articulate, resilient under-pressure.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed to support a 24/7 environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, strong business acumen, and good analytical skills.
- Foundational understanding of the principles of Enterprise Security Risk Management.
- Post-secondary education in an area of study relevant to the position or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification in the security industry desirable (PSP, CPP).
