POSITION: Contractor Sales Consultant / Estimator

The Contractor Sales Consultant represents Kingdon Timber Mart in managing contractor accounts. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, including building regulations and contracting practices. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, possess exceptional communication abilities, and report directly to the Sales Manager. The Estimator will analyze blueprints to create material lists and estimate the necessary resources for construction projects submitted by contractors and clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Engage with contractor clients at their businesses or job sites.

· Cultivate professional relationships with clients to foster trust and loyalty towards Kingdon Timber Mart.

· Represent the company with professionalism, ensuring that contractor clients receive the highest level of respect and service.

· Collaborate with contractors and major project clients to assist in project design, blueprint requirements, and estimates aligned with company objectives.

· Aid clients in acquiring necessary building permits for significant projects, when applicable.

· Conduct outreach to potential new clients, including contractors and those planning major renovations.

· Stay informed about all building permits issued within the company's operational area.

· Keep updated on changes to local, provincial, and federal building codes.

· Build relationships with qualified tradespeople in the community to provide prospective clients with a list of reliable contacts.

· Maintain communication with store estimators and other departments to ensure seamless product and service delivery for contractor projects.

· Develop a list of leads and upcoming projects for follow-up.

· Submit weekly reports to the Store Manager regarding activities within the sales territory.

· Manage the company vehicle, ensuring compliance with operational and maintenance standards.

· Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

· Organize and promote contractor events, whether offsite or within the store.

· Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.

  • Estimating product requirements and conducting take-offs from blueprints.
  • Creating material lists tailored for specific projects.
  • Possessing knowledge of municipal building codes.
  • Staying informed about updates to building codes through Ministry of Housing communications.
  • Having a working knowledge of various design software related to decks, homes, garages, kitchens, etc.
  • Occasionally visiting job sites alongside the company Sales Consultant.
  • Providing support at the contractor order desk and customer service desk as needed.
  • Assuming other duties as directed by the Store General Manager.
