Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Inpatient Medicine team at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family-centered care environment.
- Provide personal patient care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of medications, monitoring IVs, monitoring telemetry, and setting up medical equipment as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college.
- Competent to perform CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.
- Current CPR/BCLS certificate.
- Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent course.
- Current employment experience in medical/surgical units (minimum 1 year).
- Coronary Care 1 course from a recognized institution, or agreement to complete the course within 6 months of hire.
- Successfully complete in-house arrhythmia quiz within 6 weeks of completion of the CC1 Course.
- Physical Assessment course, an asset.
- Evidence of continuing education in neurology, nephrology, oncology, and palliative care, an asset.
- Demonstrated skills in providing patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care.
- Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff, and the community.
- Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Must have a satisfactory performance record.

- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers, and other members of the community and public.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
