Position Overview:

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) is seeking a dedicated Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations within the organization. This role will involve collaboration with various departments under the guidance of the Director of Finance. The successful candidate will manage the daily functions of the accounting team, which includes accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, monthly reconciliations, audit preparations, and generating analytical reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring effective task delegation and training.
  2. Provide leadership and conduct annual performance evaluations for team members.
  3. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, identifying variances in the general ledger.
  4. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax legislation.
  5. Facilitate the annual audit process by coordinating necessary information for auditors.
  6. Lead the collection and organization of data for the annual budgeting process.
  7. Manage bi-weekly payroll for full-time employees and prepare Records of Employment as necessary.
  8. Review part-time and contract payroll submissions prior to processing.
  9. Ensure timely and accurate internal reporting, assisting staff with budget inquiries and variances.
  10. Oversee banking activities, including authorizing fund transfers and government payments.
  11. Review and approve accounts payable coding before processing.
  12. Manage monthly account reconciliations and address discrepancies as needed.
  13. Monitor accounting software functionality and implement improvements to enhance system integrity.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary education in finance, business, commerce, or accounting, or equivalent experience.
  2. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  3. Possession of an accounting designation (CA/CPA) is preferred.
  4. Familiarity with accounting principles applicable to charities and nonprofit organizations.

  2. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  3. Demonstrated managerial and leadership capabilities.

Additional Requirements:
