Job Summary
The Sprott Shaw College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Culinary Assistant to join our team. As a Culinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in meal preparation and serving, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Coordinate menu planning, taking into account dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Prepare and present reports on kitchen operations, including inventory management and food safety protocols.
- Ensure the kitchen is maintained in a clean and organized manner, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Assist in the supervision of volunteers and students, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required, including administrative tasks and special projects.
Requirements
- Grade 12 minimum
- Certificate in Cook training
- FoodSafe Certification
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain
- WHMIS Certificate
- Two years' experience in kitchen management, including meal planning, stock keeping, and purchasing
- Knowledge of the safe preparation of food and its storage
- Experience working with First Nations communities
