Position Overview

As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals facing challenges related to addiction. This temporary position offers a flexible work schedule ranging from 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week, and requires a Master's degree along with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

Your primary workplace will be within counseling centers, where you will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate treatment strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with multidisciplinary teams to assess and enhance treatment plans.
  • Evaluate counseling effectiveness and monitor patient progress.
  • Conduct client interviews, document case histories, and assess individual challenges.
  • Utilize standardized psychological assessments for client evaluation.
  • Draft detailed progress reports and create personalized treatment plans.
  • Educate clients on health promotion, injury prevention, and treatment options.
  • Provide therapeutic services and facilitate group counseling sessions.
  • Maintain meticulous records of client interactions and treatment outcomes.
  • Assist clients in managing physical health issues and disorders.
  • Coordinate with community agencies to identify additional support services.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Certifications: Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification, Mental Health First Aid Certificate, First Aid Certificate.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, and MS Word.
  • Experience in Treatment Modalities: Familiarity with behavioral modification, cognitive therapy, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy.
