Role Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Vice-President of Strategic Business Planning & Business Performance Management and encompasses the following key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the annual Strategic Business Planning (SBP) process, collaborating with corporate and site personnel to develop comprehensive life-of-mine plans and economic models that support senior management in strategic decision-making.
  • Manage the development of the Annual Mineral Reserve and Resource Statement, working closely with site-level experts and the Vice-President of Geology and Technical Evaluations to ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide robust business case development support, focusing on financial evaluations and preparing presentation materials.
  • Enhance margins and optimize mine planning processes through the implementation of best practices.
  • Coordinate reviews of Strategic Growth Options to validate business cases and support capital allocation decisions.
Key Functions

1. Lead the Strategic Business Planning Process

  • Offer guidance on life-of-mine strategic planning and capital investments from a global portfolio management perspective.
  • Develop and refine global standards for strategic options and plan updates, ensuring alignment across Operations, Finance, and other functional groups.
  • Collaborate with the Vice-President and site teams to prepare corporate guidance for life-of-mine plans.
  • Utilize Monte Carlo modeling to assess production estimates and collaborate with site SBP Leads throughout the planning process.
  • Validate the quality of SBP submissions by coordinating reviews with corporate functional leads.

2. Coordinate the Annual Mineral Reserve and Resource Statement Development

  • Set annual guidance for site-level teams and validate resource models and technical inputs.
  • Compile presentation materials summarizing AMRRS results for senior leadership.

3. Provide Analytical and Project Management Leadership

  • Support strategic decision-making through process management, analysis, and impactful communication.
  • Coordinate contributors to produce project studies, including feasibility studies.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support significant business decisions.

4. General Support and Development

  • Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and facilitate discussions around best practices.
  • Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities and prepare communication materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, finance, or a related field; additional qualifications such as CFA/CPA or an MBA are advantageous.
  • Five to eight years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in a project or operations environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management.
