Railcar Repair Technician – Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Procor Limited is at the forefront of managing Canada's largest private tank car lease fleet, along with a comprehensive repair network throughout the nation. Our extensive fleet comprises over 31,000 specialized tank and freight cars, supported by 27 repair facilities that serve diverse sectors including petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers, and food markets.

We are in search of a reliable Senior Railcar Helper for our repair facility at Shell Scotford. This role is well-suited for experienced individuals seeking a stable position within a company that provides ample opportunities for professional advancement.

Position Overview:

  • Executing repairs on railcars, which includes cutting and welding (SMAW) on rail bodies, tanks, hoppers, and various components.
  • Utilizing Air Arc Gouging techniques.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of completed railcar repairs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Performing repairs on Hopper and Tank railcars, addressing interior linings, mechanical issues, coupler servicing, loading valve replacements, and airbrake testing, among other tasks.
  • Conducting inspections of incoming railcars as necessary.
  • Adhering to repair orders and established procedures.
  • Completing additional assigned tasks as required.
  • Participating in rotating 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, safety data sheets, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Previous experience in railcar repair or a related field; familiarity with AAR standards is advantageous.
  • Commitment to safety standards and regulations.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
  • WHMIS training and experience handling hazardous materials.
  • Physically capable of climbing, stooping, bending, and carrying tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Excellent time management and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive and initiative-driven approach.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
