Job Title: Employment Relations Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Employment Relations Officer to join our team at the Canadian Association of Labour Media in Toronto. As an Employment Relations Officer, you will play a key role in providing expert advice and representation to our members in labour relations matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate agreements and settlements on a full range of labour relations matters.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret jurisprudence, legislation, regulations, employer policies, benefits provisions, and collective agreements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other specialists to provide advice to the organization and develop Institute positions on Institute-wide or group-wide issues.
  • Participate in and represent the Institute on public service-wide labour management committees, national working groups, and other national, regional, and local committees.
Requirements:
  • Education/Experience: Completion of a university degree in industrial/labour relations, in law, or in a related discipline. Requires three to five years of progressive and related experience in labour relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language requirement: Fluency in both official languages (French and English) is an asset.
  • Skills and experience required: Thorough knowledge of the authorities governing employer/employee relations in the federal public service and other jurisdictions where Institute members are employed. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation; strong representational and advocacy skills.
