1. Job Overview:

  • Position: Field Technician (full‐time)
  • Reports To: Regional Field Supervisor
  • Department: Service

2. Key Responsibilities:

The HVAC Service Technician will serve as the primary expert on-site, tasked with executing Start‐up, Repair, and Preventative Maintenance on top-tier indoor HVAC systems.

3. Core Duties:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Verify and update the end user contact details in the system
  • Perform on-site equipment Start‐up and repair tasks
  • Examine the equipment and implement necessary modifications or repairs
  • Provide 24/7 remote monitoring services – units will be routinely checked
  • Deliver on-site emergency service within a 10-hour timeframe, typically within 8 hours for urgent situations
  • Conduct 32-point preventative maintenance inspections quarterly
  • Execute a comprehensive 62-point equipment evaluation biannually
  • Offer telephone support 24/7, 365 days a year
  • Respond to emergency repair requests within 10 hours or less.

Non-Technical Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit a professional demeanor while prioritizing the company's interests
  • Document risks and issues proactively from the job site and expedite resolutions to minimize warranty and repair work
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders on-site (end users, engineers, contractors, etc.)
  • Gather end user feedback regarding the customer service experience
  • Engage in monthly review meetings and provide field insights for continuous improvement

4. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial HVAC, energy recovery, and heat transfer products
  • Preferred experience with electrical controls
  • Enjoyment in working with electro-mechanical components and controls
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools
  • Willingness to travel for overnight assignments regularly
  • Ability to travel between the US and Canada for training purposes
  • Desire and capability to learn and develop new skills, processes, and concepts for career advancement within the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without becoming overwhelmed
  • Innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to propose feasible alternatives in challenging situations
  • Familiarity with computer applications: Microsoft Office, Internet, and any ERP software
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, including presentations to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, both locally and remotely

5. Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; HVAC or HRAC Technology; or Building Systems Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC and Control Systems, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 1-2 years of related design, production, or service experience is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Valid Air Conditioning & Refrigerant recovery certificate/license required
  • Gas certificate/license preferred but not essential
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required

6. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, and use hands to handle documents and/or products
  • Travel to dedicated job sites may be required: Up to 75%
