Overview: The Project Delivery Department is in search of a Senior Project Engineer to contribute to significant infrastructure initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental standards and community welfare. This position will focus on overseeing various phases of major projects, particularly those related to wastewater treatment enhancements. The role encompasses project management responsibilities and the facilitation of strategic initiatives, including funding proposals and oversight of critical activities.
Candidate Profile: You are a qualified engineer with a keen interest in project management and a commitment to impactful infrastructure development. Ideally, you possess a civil engineering background with experience in medium to large-scale projects, though candidates from diverse engineering disciplines are encouraged to apply. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex engineering and project management tasks, ensuring adherence to professional standards and achieving project objectives effectively.
- Evaluate project requirements and propose optimal strategies for successful outcomes.
- Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and participate in both short-term and long-term planning efforts.
- Make informed decisions and provide recommendations on various project-related issues, utilizing innovative problem-solving skills.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including project designs and contract specifications, while representing the organization in project-related matters.
- Guide consultants, recommend scope adjustments, and negotiate terms as necessary, addressing all project dimensions including legal and regulatory aspects.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly and advocate for effective solutions, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and management on regulatory initiatives that impact the organization.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with 4-6 years of recent experience post-registration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and their practical application.
- Ability to interpret technical guidelines and adapt procedures for unique situations.
- Proven project management and contract administration skills, with a focus on organizing complex project components.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a talent for explaining intricate concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in problem-solving.
- Demonstrated understanding of organizational processes and commitment to upholding the organization's reputation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- A valid BC Class 5 Driver's license.
- Note: Candidates with less experience may be considered for a Project Engineer position at an appropriate compensation level.
