Type: Seasonal Employment

Location: Suncor Fort Hills

Work Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (Compressed Work Schedule)

Shift Pattern: Rotating Days and Nights

Role Responsibilities:

The Labourer is tasked with performing unskilled labour across various operational phases. This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Key Duties Include:

  • Operating all assigned equipment safely and effectively
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all assigned equipment according to established standards
  • Communicating any necessary repairs to maintenance personnel
  • Conducting site clean-up and maintenance at work locations
  • Installing signage in compliance with highway standards
  • Performing snow and ice removal
  • Working in varying weather conditions
  • Painting as required
  • Properly storing tools
  • Setting up and operating de-watering systems
  • Acting as a flag person when necessary
  • Spotting for loaders and other equipment
  • Patching walkways and cutting grass
  • Using pressure washers and steam trucks
  • Performing housekeeping duties
  • Maintaining a cooperative relationship with customers and colleagues
  • Executing other related tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required; preferred experience in road construction or maintenance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is essential
  • Ability to provide a clean driver's abstract
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Safety-conscious mindset
  • Willingness to train on various equipment
  • Comfortable working in diverse climates and environmental conditions
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Comfortable working near water
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests and fit-for-duty assessments
  • Additional training such as Forklift Certification, Heavy Equipment Certification, and First Aid is beneficial
