Operating Room Registered Nurse

Role of the Registered Nurse:
- Delivers comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Operating Room, functioning both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Improves the quality of life for patients and their families by consulting, collaborating, and communicating effectively with other healthcare professionals.
- Engages in continuous enhancement and evidence-based practices in nursing.
- Maintains and develops personal clinical expertise.
- Contributes to designated hospital committees and participates in approved research initiatives as required.
Work shifts will be scheduled for both days and nights, rotating between 07:00 to 15:30, 07:15 to 15:45, 09:30 to 18:00, 10:00 to 18:30, and 22:45 to 07:15.
About the Department:
The Operating Room Department at Royal Inland Hospital features 9 surgical theatres providing a wide range of services, including General Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedic Trauma, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, ENT, Neurosurgery, Vascular procedures, Major Plastics, Dental, and Laser surgeries.
Operating Room RNs are expected to be proficient across all service areas.As part of the RIH Operating Room team, you will undertake both circulating and scrubbing responsibilities while overseeing the comprehensive care of patients.
Orientation to the Operating Room is customized based on the new staff member's experience, typically lasting around 12 weeks, with one to two weeks dedicated to each service depending on prior knowledge.
Resource Nurses are available in all specialties to provide ongoing support and education for all staff members. Regular in-service training sessions are conducted weekly.Leadership within the department includes the Manager of Clinical Operations, an Operating Room Educator, and an Equipment Coordinator, all dedicated to supporting patient care, education, and research.
