Key Responsibilities
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  • Order supplies and equipment, ensuring a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, maintaining accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, promoting self-expression and imagination.
  • Engage children in activities, telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, creating a sense of community and belonging.
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting independence and self-care.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, ensuring a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Establish guidelines for behavior, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, promoting a network of support and resources.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, ensuring a safe and nurturing space.
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours, providing a fun and engaging experience.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants, promoting a sense of teamwork and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Own transportation.
