About the Role

Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a highly skilled Group Underwriter to join our team. As a Group Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Renewal Pricing: Establish renewal pricing by analyzing experience and trends to justify pricing decisions and recommend alternatives.
  • New Business Rates: Establish rates for new group business and respond to financial questions within specified guidelines.
  • Financial Statements: Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
  • Financial Agreements: Draft and update financial agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Underwriting Targets: Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers to drive business growth.
  • Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with internal sales staff, case management, group administration, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless business operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in Group Underwriting experience.
  • Computer Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
