Heavy Duty Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Cadomin. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on all heavy mobile equipment and production facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repairing equipment used to excavate and transport limestone, soil, gravel, or a mix of these materials
  • Lubricating and conducting both emergency and scheduled maintenance on heavy-duty equipment as needed for optimal performance
  • Operating and inspecting machinery or heavy equipment to identify issues
  • Ensuring that all equipment repairs adhere to manufacturer standards
  • Testing mechanical products and equipment post-repair or assembly to ensure proper functioning and compliance with specifications
  • Executing other mechanical and maintenance tasks as delegated
Requirements:
  • Candidates in their 3rd year of mechanic training will be considered
  • Preference will be given to those in their 4th year with Red Seal Journeyman certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in handling transmissions, rear ends, running gear, electrical systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Effective communication skills and ability to adhere to safety protocols
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong safety record and a track record of being a team player. Shift work and overtime will be necessary
  • Physical requirements include lifting, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, working at heights, and occasionally in confined spaces
