Position Summary:

We are in search of a driven and experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist, PSE, or Engineer to enhance our field services team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a knack for problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail. We provide a stimulating work environment that encourages continuous learning and development throughout the testing and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of commissioning personnel.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of MV/HV power system protection and control systems across various sectors including utilities, power generation, and oil & gas.
  • Interpret technical drawings and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Train and mentor team members to uphold high performance standards.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports.
  • Assist in developing commissioning startup procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols in accordance with corporate, client, and industry regulations.
  • Engage with customers to address inquiries and confirm resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for registration with APEGGA, ASET, or equivalent organizations.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical power system protection and control principles, including SCADA, relay protection, metering, and telecom networks.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in medium and high voltage utility substations and power generation, including supervisory roles in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Experience with relay testing of microprocessor-based protection IEDs (e.g., SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE) using automated testing equipment (e.g., Omicron CMC356) and managing test data.
  • Proficient in high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning, including transformers, circuit breakers, and surge arrestors.
  • Familiarity with NETA/IEEE/IEC testing standards.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA Z462 safety standards.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  • NETA Testing Certification is a plus.
  • Background checks and Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing will be required as part of employment.
