We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Approvals Engineer to join our team at the Government of Alberta. As an Industrial Approvals Engineer, you will play a critical role in assessing the environmental impacts of industrial operations in Alberta and providing technical expertise to support the development of environmental policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical review of approval applications and registration submissions to assess the environmental impact of industrial activities.
- Coordinate input from internal and external specialists to determine the potential impacts of industrial activities on the environment.
- Research and develop approval standards for releases that are not covered by existing Alberta standards or guidelines.
- Liaise with industry stakeholders to facilitate issue discussion and resolution.
- Write enforceable approvals reflecting the requirements based on the assessment of all relevant environmental issues.
- Review monitoring data and conduct facility inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Negotiate with industries to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for environmental issues.
- Participate in the development of environmental policies and regulations.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Eligibility for membership with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
- Previous experience working with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.
- Experience in a variety of industrial settings.
- Additional related education considered in lieu of experience.
