Job Opportunity: Psychiatrist

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at the Edmonton O-day'min Primary Care Network (EOPCN). As a Psychiatrist, you will play a vital role in providing consultation services to our specialty linkage program, working closely with family physicians to assess, treat, and manage patients' mental and/or behavioural health concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Utilize evidence-based practice in patient assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing.
  2. Conduct thorough patient interviews, review electronic medical records, and utilize Netcare data to inform treatment decisions.
  3. Provide short-term consultation for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, stress and trauma-related disorders, sleep-wake disorders, substance use & concurrent disorders, and personality disorders.
  4. Communicate regularly with patients' family physicians regarding patient status/progress through documentation in the EOPCN EMR and provision of consultation reports.
  5. Develop positive working relationships with EOPCN healthcare team members and clinical support team members to promote coordinated, quality care and access to appropriate resources for clients.
  6. Participate in EOPCN mental health program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
  • Prior experience working with vulnerable populations an asset
  • Compassion for clients with challenging socioeconomic and life situations
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage medical IT systems – EMR, Netcare, medical and pharmacological databases
  • Standard First Aid – Level C
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance
