Job Summary

The WLIC Chemistry Lab Technical Support member is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the WLIC chemistry labs, aligning with the lab support practices of the WLU chemistry courses. This position requires assisting the WLIC chemistry lab instructors, preparing solutions, setting up lab stations, and cleaning up the laboratory after lab sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of solutions and lab materials according to safety guidelines and material SDSs.
  • Conduct setup and takedown of lab stations for each exercise.
  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals and solutions after each lab.
  • Prepare hazardous waste for disposal according to SHERM practices.
  • Clean the teaching lab and PREP room after each lab session.

Qualifications

  • Minimum MSc degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Well-developed organizational skills to ensure labs are prepared and delivered on time.
  • Effective communication and interaction skills.
  • Ability to work independently and have great attention to detail.
  • Experience with standard chemistry laboratory equipment and handling chemicals.

Working Conditions

The normal hours of work are 8 hours (biweekly) from Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required, including evening hours to accommodate lab sessions. 48 hours total of work per semester.

Compensation

Hiring salary range posted: $41.09 to $43.44 with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $46.96.
