POSITION SUMMARY
The role involves underwriting residential real estate policies, focusing on managing and expanding a portfolio of multi-subscription policies. Candidates should possess relevant experience in underwriting or related fields such as personal lines or commercial broking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of property risks, including an understanding of Alberta's catastrophic exposures. Utilize data analysis and property valuations to inform underwriting decisions.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstrate flexibility and maintain a positive demeanor during negotiations. Adapt negotiation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes while ensuring a customer-centric approach.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships through effective communication and active listening. Network with industry peers and colleagues.
- Account Management: Oversee the preparation and issuance of submissions, quotations, and endorsements. Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and follow up on renewals.
- Organizational Skills: Exhibit strong time management and organizational abilities, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in all tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A university degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- CAIB or CIP designation (level II license) preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the insurance industry.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel.
