Job Overview

Reporting to the Category Manager within the Procurement and Supply Management (P&SM) division, the Senior Procurement Specialist is tasked with aiding in the formulation, assessment, and implementation of innovative procurement strategies that yield sustainable value for the enterprise, including the realization of cost reduction objectives. This role also involves overseeing the execution of critical contracts, capturing financial savings through effective negotiation of contract terms, and monitoring supplier performance.

Main Responsibilities

Procurement Oversight

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and foster value creation.
  • Perform data analysis at various stages of the sourcing lifecycle.
  • Craft the procurement category strategy and enhance supplier market insights related to locomotive components and services.
  • Manage the RFx process, assess supplier submissions, and prepare business cases for management endorsement.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, addressing both commercial and legal aspects.
  • Oversee contracts, supplier relationships, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to ensure accurate administration of rates and agreements within the Purchase to Pay (P2P) framework.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and requirements.
  • Contribute to department-wide initiatives as necessary.

Working Environment

This position is based in a standard office environment with a regular work schedule. The role may require travel within North America and internationally.

Qualifications

Experience

Procurement experience ranging from 4 to 5 years in a comparable role.

Education/Certification

A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or a related field.
