Job Summary:

Sault Area Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing assessment, program planning, treatment, follow-up, and program evaluation to both inpatients and outpatients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and functional abilities.
  • Develop and implement individually designed treatment plans to maintain, improve, or restore physical, cognitive, and functional abilities.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to develop treatment goals and encourage family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of the treatment plan.
  • Supervise and assign components of treatment to Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs).
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team, including physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Work within the scope of practice and standards laid out by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as a role model, mentor, and/or preceptor for learners, new grads, and new hires from various disciplines.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices, research, and legislative requirements.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and be flexible and accommodating to support evolving workload demands and priorities.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited university program in occupational therapy.
  • Current registration with, or eligible for registration with, The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to stay organized and prioritize effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated behavior consistent with the hospital's Standards of Performance and iCcare values.
