Position SummaryReporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, the Director of Metering & Billing Operations will be the primary management representative responsible for the Technical Services, Metering, and Billing sectors of the organization. This role requires a trusted business partner who collaborates effectively on all technical and regulatory aspects related to customer connections, data accuracy, and billing integrity. The Director will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer to develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing meter-to-cash processes for both electricity and water services.
Key Qualifications- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Technical Services, Metering, or Billing, with at least five (5) years in a senior management capacity.
- Experience across various sectors such as Hydro Utilities, Local Distribution Companies, Water/Wastewater Management, Telecommunications, Municipal Government, Pipeline, and Energy is highly valued.
- A university degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Technology, or a related field is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation is an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of utility metering infrastructure for both electricity and water, including AMI systems and wholesale metering applications.
- In-depth understanding of meter-to-bill processes and revenue assurance principles.
- Familiarity with relevant legislative requirements and regulatory guidelines, including those from MECP, IESO, OEB, and Measurement Canada.
- Strong understanding of electricity and water distribution systems.
- Experience in a unionized work environment is preferred.
- Proficient in budgeting and financial oversight.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, project management, and process improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional skills in drafting business and technical reports, including presentations for executive and board levels.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, mentor, and inspire team members.
- Capability to understand organizational dynamics and adopt an enterprise-wide perspective.
