POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads safety initiatives and promotes ongoing enhancements in workplace safety standards.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of construction services provided and takes corrective measures as necessary.
  • Establishes and enforces policies, processes, and procedures aimed at boosting productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Identifies and suggests innovative work practices, new methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Responsible for the successful completion and final documentation of construction projects.
  • Collaborates with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and facilitate new installations.
  • Oversees project execution while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Mentors and coaches team members to enhance their performance, evaluate personal effectiveness, and provide growth opportunities.
  • Offers insights to adjust the integrated plan based on shifts in demand and scheduling.
  • Effectively utilizes the collective agreement for optimal work management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associate's degree in Electronics is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in railroad signal construction and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of railroad signal principles, equipment, and a commitment to leading safety initiatives.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements is essential.
  • Knowledge of signal standards and the Code of Federal Regulations Parts 234, 235, 236, as well as the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Proven skills in planning, prioritizing, problem-solving, and analytical thinking to execute plans effectively.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • A sense of urgency and availability for emergency situations is required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight as needed.
  • Commitment to regulatory compliance is crucial.
  • Dedicated to delivering safe, timely, and budget-conscious quality construction.
  • May be required to obtain certification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
