Job Overview: Durham College is on the lookout for a proficient and driven Cybersecurity Innovation Principal Investigator to become part of the Centre for Cybersecurity Innovation on a part-time, project-based contract. The successful candidate will take charge of executing applied research initiatives in partnership with college personnel and industry collaborators, crafting work plans, overseeing student research assistants, and sharing insights at both internal and external forums.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead applied research initiatives
- Formulate work plans in collaboration with industry partners
- Participate in meetings and present project outlines
- Determine human resource requirements and recruit student research assistants
- Provide technical guidance and leadership
- Execute dissemination activities
- Support follow-up actions with industry clients
- Communicate findings at internal and external forums
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- Three to five years of pertinent industry experience
- Proven research capabilities and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and programming languages
- Able to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal skills
Technical Proficiencies:
- Experience in incident response, vulnerability assessment, and programming languages
- Certifications in cybersecurity domains
- Project management expertise
- Hands-on coding experience and data analysis proficiency
- Familiarity with penetration testing methodologies and standards
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $50.50
Work Schedule:
Up to 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be necessary. Some travel to industry partner locations may be required.
