About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer I to join our team at the City of Vancouver. As a key member of our Transportation Engineering Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of data collection and analysis techniques for transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis
    • Design and implement data collection studies to support transportation projects
    • Develop and maintain databases and analysis tools to support data analysis
    • Provide expert advice on data collection and analysis techniques to internal stakeholders
  • Research and Development
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data collection and analysis
    • Develop and implement new data collection and analysis methods to support transportation projects
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and prioritize data collection and analysis needs
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians in data collection and analysis
    • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on data collection and analysis techniques
    • Develop and implement training programs to support the development of data collection and analysis skills
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including transportation engineers, planners, and project managers
    • Communicate complex data collection and analysis concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including transportation agencies and research institutions, to identify and prioritize data collection and analysis needs
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
    • Minimum 4 years of experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on data collection and analysis
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of transportation engineering principles and techniques
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
    • Strong leadership and supervision skills
