Position Overview
We are looking for a Natural Resource Officer responsible for ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and resource management laws in the Yukon. This role encompasses inspection and enforcement duties aimed at promoting responsible practices in resource development.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in natural resource management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies, or procedures.
- Background in resource management or environmental stewardship.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with First Nations communities, governmental bodies, or industry stakeholders.
- Experience in inspecting and reporting on resource development initiatives.
A combination of education and practical experience will be considered.
Key Attributes
- Expertise in enforcing legislation and policies related to natural resource management.
- Excellent relationship-building and collaborative abilities.
- Capacity to adapt to dynamic situations and effectively resolve issues.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Additional Requirements
- A valid Class 5 driver's license is mandatory.
- Medical clearance and a Firearms Possession and Acquisition License are required.
Job Responsibilities
- Willingness to travel and work in diverse terrains and weather conditions.
- Must wear appropriate gear and uniforms, including personal protective equipment.
- Camping in remote areas may be necessary.
