Position Overview

Join our team as a Registered Nurse at Vancouver Coastal Health

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to become part of the Bone Marrow Transplant Day Care team. We invite you to be a vital member of our healthcare community.

Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse in Bone Marrow Transplant include:

Performing comprehensive nursing assessments and delivering nursing care, education, counseling, and treatment while working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Enhancing the quality of life from the perspective of clients and their families. Developing, executing, and evaluating client education based on expertise and principles of adult education. Engaging in consultation, collaboration, and communication with team members and other healthcare professionals. Participating in designated committees, teams, and approved research initiatives as assigned, while sharing relevant information about services with other healthcare professionals and community members.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). A minimum of two (2) years of recent, relevant experience in Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills & Competencies

Understanding of nursing theory and practice within a client and family-centered care model. Familiarity with BCCNM standards for nursing practice. Knowledge of adult education principles and methodologies. Awareness of evidence-based clinical practices related to Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant. Understanding of research processes and methodologies. Knowledge of various healthcare disciplines and their roles in client care. Proven ability to function effectively as a team member, leader, and facilitator. Demonstrated capability to teach, demonstrate techniques, and facilitate learning for clients. Effective communication skills with interdisciplinary team members, clients, and their families, both individually and in group settings. Strong listening and information-seeking skills that foster communication and collaborative problem-solving in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others. Proficiency in providing effective consultation. Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload in collaboration with others and meet deadlines. Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques. Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the position. Proficiency in using equipment and techniques relevant to the education and treatment of clients post-transplantation. Computer literacy, including skills in word processing and patient information systems.
