Job Summary

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Engineer/Officer to join our team in the role of Electrical Systems Specialist or Nuclear Facility Expert. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will contribute to the design, development, and operation of our nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Evaluation and Advice: Provide technical evaluations and advice to support the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our nuclear facilities.
  • Procedure Development and Maintenance: Develop and maintain operating and other specified departmental procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Research and Development: Recommend research and development programs to improve equipment, system, or unit reliability or performance, and follow up on such research and development work as required.
  • Proposal Review and Evaluation: Review proposals received from internal or external sources related to assigned areas, discuss proposals with originators as necessary, and recommend disposition of proposals to supervisors.
  • Supervision and Training: Supervise assigned staff involved in the above activities, provide training and development opportunities to staff, and participate in training programs to further own development and assist in the development of others.
Requirements
  • Education: A 4-year university education in Electrical, Nuclear, or Mechanical engineering, or equivalent level of education.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years of experience in system engineering, performance engineering, or a related field, with experience in a used fuel facility, waste management facility, or nuclear power plant.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Requires training and experience in the design, development, or operation of a nuclear facility, or in the development, manufacture, or production of nuclear materials or components. Requires a knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
