About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team at IVARI. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and managing risk for our clients, ensuring that our insurance products meet their needs and provide them with the protection they require.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new business applications and non-contractual policy changes, assessing medical, financial, and non-medical risk using IVARI's underwriting guidelines, reinsurance manual, and procedures.
  • Review applications for Life and Critical Illness, and associated underwriting evidence, conducting risk assessment and classification according to IVARI's underwriting philosophy.
  • Support the Underwriting Team Leads in day-to-day underwriting productivity, maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Deliver an exceptional service experience to clients and advisors, consistently meeting their needs and expectations.
  • Identify problems and opportunities for improvement, and offer potential solutions, participating in projects related to technology and guideline development as required.
Requirements
  • 5-8 years of experience in individual life insurance underwriting.
  • Excellent medical and financial underwriting knowledge.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience dealing with brokerage distribution networks.
  • University or College Degree, ideally in Business, Finance, or Health Sciences.
  • FLMI and FALU Certifications are an asset.
