Position Overview

The Network Operations Specialist, under the guidance of the Supervisor, System Operations Control Centre, plays a crucial role in collaborating with both the SOCC and Airports divisions, along with external partners, to streamline operational functions throughout Porter's network.

The Station Operations Coordinators, in partnership with a Flight Dispatcher, ensure the prompt distribution of clear and precise operational updates across the organization, especially during periods of irregular operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Network Operations Specialist is tasked with:

  • Coordinating operational functions across the Porter network and aiding in contingency and recovery strategies during significant irregular operations (IROPs) events.
  • Monitoring connection passenger loads and liaising with the Duty Officer to foresee potential misconnect scenarios.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with outstations to proactively implement measures that minimize misconnecting passengers.
  • Facilitating swift activation of the Emergency Response Plan, managing non-emergency abnormal incident responses, and executing critical communications via the Everbridge Mass Notification system.
  • Providing procedural guidance and routine technical assistance to front-line agents while coordinating responses to system outages and transitioning to manual or backup procedures.
  • Ensuring passengers receive timely notifications regarding flight disruptions and cancellations through Porter's passenger reprotection application.
  • Processing delay reports and engaging in the delay code audit and reconciliation process.
  • Managing APIS/API reconciliation and communication with the US Department of Homeland Security, CBP, and CBSA.
  • Assisting in the investigation and resolution of DHS violations and API data quality issues to prevent significant penalties against the Company.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Company policies and procedures, as well as Transport Canada regulations and those of other domestic and international regulatory bodies.
  • Actively participating in Porter's Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations, and promoting adherence to the Company Safety Policy.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, SOCC or designate.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' experience in airline operations or a supervisory role within the industry. Must demonstrate a conscientious and safety-oriented approach, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team. The ability to adapt swiftly to new circumstances, solve problems, and drive positive change in a fast-paced environment is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks are required. A clear attendance record and reliability in reporting for work, along with flexibility to work rotating morning and overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, are necessary. Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Identification Card (Security Clearance).
