Role Overview:

The Principal Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in shaping and directing technical initiatives aimed at developing models, constructing advanced analytics, and utilizing machine learning. This position is central to our operations and presents an exciting opportunity to make a substantial impact within a leading fintech organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model Development and Analysis:
    • Design and implement analyses and models for time series and credit risk data.
    • Identify data sources, secure data access, and perform data cleansing.
    • Create ETL pipelines for effective feature engineering.
    • Utilize active-learning frameworks to refine models in near real-time.
    • Analyze trends, risk factors, and outcomes across various levels of aggregation.
  • Collaboration and Influence:
    • Engage with senior leadership to ensure Data Science aligns with business strategy.
    • Work closely with engineering and product teams to deliver impactful projects.
    • Produce original analyses to guide and influence project roadmaps.
    • Communicate technical insights and direction effectively within the team.
  • Infrastructure and Experimentation:
    • Establish infrastructure to support model experimentation and deployment.
    • Implement scalable ML architecture adhering to industry best practices.
    • Monitor model performance and drive continuous improvements.
  • Research and Development:
    • Stay abreast of advancements in machine learning technologies.
    • Explore and enable new methodologies to enhance our capabilities.
  • Mentorship:
    • Guide and mentor fellow data scientists to elevate team expertise.
    • Oversee end-to-end architecture designs and uphold high standards of code quality.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a comparable role.
  • Strong proficiency in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
  • Advanced skills in pattern recognition and predictive modeling.
  • Demonstrated technical ability in delivering production-ready code.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience in influencing business objectives.
  • Proven ability to articulate technical challenges and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial underwriting and credit analysis is advantageous.
