Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Dentist to join our team at the Durham Region Health Department. As a Clinical Dentist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to clients in the Durham Region Oral Health Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general dental clinical care, including examinations, radiographs, restorations, crowns, root canals, extractions, and denture care.
  • Work with patients who present with complex medical histories, disabilities, or behavioral problems.
  • Monitor and model best practices for infection prevention and control.
  • Collaborate with other dentists, denturists, and dental hygienists to ensure seamless access to care.
  • Educate the public on oral health and Public Health dental program policies and guidelines.
  • Represent the Division in the community.
  • Assist with enforcing regional and departmental policies and implementing new policies as required.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited or recognized Faculty of Dentistry.
  • Certificate to practice dentistry in Ontario, from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 2 years' practice experience, with preference given to candidates with dental public health or hospital experience treating medically compromised patients.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access or other databases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS).
