Job Overview

The Assistant Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the fitness center to guarantee an outstanding experience for all members while ensuring the club's financial success. Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, and cultivate a high-performing team, including Fast Trackers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring that staff adheres to exceptional customer service standards.
  • Staff Management
    • Schedule personnel and guarantee all shifts are adequately staffed.
    • Set a positive example and maintain accountability for team members through training and coaching, ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.
    • Handle the administration and processing of employee payroll on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
    • Address employee concerns or issues effectively.
    • Manage disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary.
  • Participate in all front desk operations, including:
    • Answering phone calls in a courteous manner and assisting callers with various inquiries.
    • Checking members into the system.
    • Facilitating new member registrations.
    • Conducting tours for prospective members.
    • Addressing all member requests, concerns, and inquiries.
  • Ensure timely opening and closing of the facility.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the gym, including taking responsibility for the largest cleaning section daily.
    • Ensure the safety of staff, members, and club property.
    • Identify and communicate equipment repair needs promptly.
  • Manage marketing initiatives by ensuring staff is informed and trained on all promotional activities.
  • Authorize expenditures and refunds, and perform daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare all HR-related documentation and submit to the Corporate Payroll Team.
  • Monitor and report statistics (weekly, monthly, annually).
  • Provide backup support for any absent staff member.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills, ideally within the fitness sector.
  • Strong leadership, diplomacy, and listening abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Suite).
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Current CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
