Veterinary Technician

Join the University of Guelph as a Registered Veterinary Technician and contribute to the delivery of exceptional animal care services at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre.
About the Role:This temporary part-time position involves working as a member of the healthcare team, assisting with various activities related to companion and large animals. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting clinicians with patient care and communicating effectively with service areas
- Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring patient confidentiality
- Observing and evaluating patient health status, administering prescribed treatments, and collecting samples
- Preparing patients for surgery and setting up surgical suites with specialized equipment
- Providing technical support and guidance to veterinary students, clinicians, and staff
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A 2-year College Diploma in Veterinary Technology
- Successful completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
- Full membership in good standing with the OAVT
- One year of prior experience working as an RVT
- Demonstrated proficiency in customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with common computer software, including Hospital Management Information System software
