About the Role

Svante is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company making commercial-scale carbon capture and removal a reality. We are seeking a highly skilled Material Chemist to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative materials for carbon capture applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to synthesize porous polymers, including multi-step organic synthesis, polymerization, and sample purification.
  • Operate lab instruments for characterization, such as FTIR, TGA, DVS, NMR, and microscopes.
  • Analyze data and interpret results to inform the development of new materials.
  • Collaborate with the sorbent development team to scale up organic sorbent synthesis works based on bench-scale results.
  • Prepare documents, reports, and presentations to communicate lab findings.
  • Maintain lab equipment and ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field with experience working in wet labs, preferably in organic/polymer synthesis and characterization.
  • Excellent knowledge of materials science, organic chemistry, porous materials, and post-modification of polymers.
  • Experience in laboratory experiments involving multi-step organic synthesis, polymerization, sample purification, and characterization.
  • WHMIS safety guidelines and compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Ability to work in a wet lab setting for prolonged periods, involving standing and walking.
